
Marle Mikkola was strongly influenced by the music scene in London having spent her childhood and youth there.
She has now lived in Finland for several years and has within a short time established herself as one of the top jazz singers in the country. She is seen in major jazz festivals and clubs around Finland, performs on television and radio and her new record with JASO Big Band was released in Spring 2001.
Not only does she sing jazz evergreens, Marle Mikkola's repertoire is vast consisting of hits known around the world. Having a deep, sensual voice jazz and blues seemed to be a natural choice for her. In the 50's and 60's her mother Wiola Talvikki was one of the most popular jazz singers in Finland.
Marle Mikkola has also performed in other Scandinavian countries, Germany, Spain and Russia.
She works with
the top musicians in Finland mainly with 3-4 permanent groups. She has
also been a vocalist for the Finnish Opera Big Band. In 1998 she was asked
to join JASO Big Band as their lead singer and has been performing with
them ever since.
